Art Party and Valentine's Couples Night Out

Art Party

I was privileged to guide 11 couples in an art project at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Orland Park on February 11, 2017. This was part of an art party for a Valentine's celebration for these couples.
We started with a simple dinner and then had some fun with art. Because of time constraints, I decided to have each couple work collaboratively on a collage. Each couple was given a bag of papers that I prepared beforehand. Here is an example of the designs that I created on a light weight watercolor paper. Since this was a church function, I included some prayers, scripture, meditations, and hymns.

I showed them how to apply the prepared papers with a liquid polymer to a thick acrylic paper. This project is a low stress project because there are no preconceived ideas about the outcome. It is conceptual and each couple will create something very different even though they had similar papers. Here are two examples of collages I created using some of the papers.

I was very impressed with all of the paintings that were created that night. Here are the couples with their creations and an example of one hanging in someone's home.

We had a good time and there is enthusiasm for another project in the future. Here is the collage I did at home after the party. I used leftover papers to create "Shared Love."
