Painting the Memory of a Restful Weekend at Hillwind B & B

After 35,000 steps in the Kettle Moraine area, 3 paintings and way too much food, we have returned from a very restful 4 day weekend at the Hillwind B & B in Plymouth Wisconsin. The fall colors were spectacular! The weather was much colder than I expected and it was cloudy a good part of the time. I was able to paint different subjects right from the Hillwind property. Here are the pastel paintings and the photos of the subject.

The Hillwind barn and silo are one of the few that have been preserved in the area. Thanks to Jean and John for a pleasant get away.

Sagawau and Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Centers & Art Fair

Fortunately, I did not have to use this phone number because it was much too cold for snake activity at the Sagawau Nature Center. Last week, Judy and I visited Sagawau on a dreary day. We painted the Dolan farmhouse from the nature center. Once again we used our "artistic license" on the field in front of it.

Last Sunday, Oct. 5th, Judy and I were the featured artists at the Little Red Schoolhouse Art Fair. We had 32 of our plein air paintings of the Cook County Forest Preserves. It was interesting to see our work framed and side by side with a photo of the site. I displayed my plein air set up and demonstrated a pastel painting. It turned out to be a very pleasant fall day with a good turn out. Our paintings will be on display for the month of October so if you are in Willow Springs, IL., stop by.
